Portfolio updates

by jteknet on May.24, 2009, under Uncategorized

If you look at my Portfolio page you’ll see that I’ve put up some graphics work I’ve done. I’m currently working on expanding my services into the graphics artist expertise as well so I’m spending every spare minute learning how to work with photographs and create custom banners / headers for web sites.

Check out my works so far and feel free to leave a comment!

In-home classes offered NOW

by jteknet on Apr.30, 2009, under Uncategorized

As of today, JTekNet will be offering in-home computer classes to area residents. These classes will be offered during evening hours from 5-10pm. We were going to have classes during business hours at the office on Main Street and still may do that, but at the current time we think it will serve everyone better if we do in home lessons. We will make a page about the classes in the next 24 or 48 hours.

Get a hold of us today to enroll. (304) 641-5321 or email us by using the contact page.

Decided to paint the office today so I hired Rocky Shaffer. He’s been in the painting business for over five years and does a really nice job. I have to put out a big thank you to him for coming out on short notice and helping me out like he did.

Antivirus Software and the importance of updating

by jteknet on Feb.23, 2009, under Tek Tips

Finally! A tip-filled entry. I know, I know the second entry I ever made was one full of helpful advice. Sorry I haven’t been keeping up with that. I’m going to try to at least do a weekly entry to help everyone get the most out of their computer.

This week I’m addressing Virus Protection I can not begin to tell you how important this is! If you are the kind of person who goes to every site that looks interesting and don’t “screen” them or go to sites that are popular to the majority of the world (google, msn, ask, microsoft.com, jteknet, bonus.com, miniclip.com, addictinggames.com, pogo, download.com, cnet, cnn, fox, espn, etc) then you HAVE got to download a virus protection. Not only can you find these for free, I’ve actually found that Avira AntiVirus has the highest detection rate of any anti-virus I’ve used including Symantec Enterprise (what the school system uses) the kicker is IT’S ABSOLUTELY FREE! Pick up your copy today at this page. Just click on the GREEN BUTTON in the top right of the page to begin download.

  1. Uninstall McAfee, Norton, or whatever the software you were using before was
  2. Install AntiVir
  3. Update your software to the latest protection (should come up when it’s done installing)
  4. Scan. Run a full scan as it will find the viruses hidden deepest in your system.

Another thing is MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR NEW ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE UP TO DATE!! If you don’t do that, there’s almost no point in having it. It’s like getting a flu shot one year and thinking you are going to be protected the next.

That’s my tip for today though. Now go get adequate protection from what’s being spread out there!!
